We’re thrilled to return to Fraenkel Gallery in San Francisco for our third annual gathering — this time with a conversation between Pauline Eveillard, founder of Soukra, and Laura L. Camerlengo, Curator in Charge of Costume and Textile Arts at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and curator of the upcoming exhibition Azzedine Alaïa: Sculpting Fashion, opening at the Legion of Honor on November 21, 2026.

Laura L. Camerlengo
Curator in Charge, Costume and Textile Arts
Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
Laura L. Camerlengo is an award-winning fashion and textiles curator who currently serves as curator in charge of costume and textile arts at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Since 2010, she has organized, co-organized, and presented numerous costume and textiles exhibitions and publications for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, with a focus on sharing the stories of women and artists of color. Her projects have been celebrated by news outlets such as The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, W., Women’s Wear Daily, Vogue, New York Magazine, artnet, Hyperallergic, and The San Francisco Chronicle.
She has served on the boards of several national and local non-profit organizations, including the Textile Society of America, Costume Society of America, and Creativity Explored, and as a juror for the James Renwick Alliance for Craft’s Chrysalis Award for Emerging Artists in Fiber. She holds a master of arts degree in the history of decorative arts and design from Parsons, the New School for Design/Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, New York.
Pauline Eveillard
Pauline Eveillard is the founder of Soukra, a platform dedicated to contemporary Tunisian design and craftsmanship, bringing together independent designers and entrepreneurs working across fashion, home, food, and objects.
Her connection with Tunisia began twenty years ago as a Fulbright fellow, following studies in art history at Tufts University, and has evolved into a broader mission to help position Tunisia within global conversations around design, culture, and heritage. Through Soukra, Pauline works closely with designers, artisans, and producers across Tunisia and connects their work with an international audience through e-commerce, wholesale partnerships, cultural programming, travel, and special projects.
Most recently, she contributed two features on Tunisia’s architectural heritage to Cabana Magazine, photographed by Oskar Proctor, exploring Tunisia’s modernist architecture and the earthen Ibadite mosques of Djerba.
Fraenkel Gallery
Since 1979, Fraenkel Gallery has presented almost 400 exhibitions exploring photography and its relation to other media. The gallery exhibits and publishes significant works of art in a variety of media spanning two centuries. We believe that to understand photographs it helps to see them in light of other objects, and vice versa.
The gallery represents the work of Robert Adams, Sophie Calle, Lee Friedlander, Adam Fuss, Nan Goldin, Katy Grannan, Richard Learoyd, Richard Misrach, Nicholas Nixon, Alec Soth, and Hiroshi Sugimoto, and works closely with the estates of Diane Arbus, Bernd & Hilla Becher, Peter Hujar, and Garry Winogrand. In recent years, the gallery has expanded its roster to include multidisciplinary artists such as Elisheva Biernoff, Mel Bochner, Kota Ezawa, Martine Gutierrez, Janet Cardiff & George Bures Miller, Christian Marclay, Wardell Milan, Richard T. Walker, and Carrie Mae Weems.
While photography has been a consistent through-line of our exhibitions and more than 70 publications, it is far from the whole story. Many exhibitions have featured artists whose work is not strictly, or not at all, photographic: Mel Bochner, Bruce Conner, Jay DeFeo, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Agnes Martin, and Sol LeWitt among others.
Fraenkel Gallery maintains long-established relationships with museums, private collectors, and corporations around the world, and welcomes the experienced collector as well as those just beginning.
