Soukra curated the TUNISIAN SOUK: Holiday Pop-Up Market, which was one of many activities happening at a Weekend Celebration of Tunisia, at L’Alliance New York, December 6-7, 2019.
Over 100 visitors shopped and discovered leading and emerging Tunisian brands, designers, and artisans in this a one-of-a-kind pop-up that spanned two days in the L’Alliance New York Skyroom. Curated collection of men’s, women’s and children’s ready-to-wear, accessories, beauty, home décor, books, and food were presented. A kids corner during the souk offered books and games for children to enjoy. A portion of the proceeds supported L’Alliance New York’s cultural and education programs.
On Friday, December 6, the weekend opened with a Wine & Kémia Reception 6-7:30pm, where guests enjoyed Tunisian wines and kémia (selection of Tunisian dips and bites) while getting to know the people, products and stories behind the brands at the TUNISIAN SOUK. Followed by the US Premiere of Juliette Deschamps’ Tragedy of Dido, at L’Alliance New York’s, Florence Gould Hall.
On Saturday, December 7, the TUNISIAN SOUK was open all day, with engaging activities, such as a Tunisian Cooking Workshop for kids, and screenings of Tunisian films Beauty and the dogs/La Belle et la Muete, Dear Son/Weldi, and more.
