When telling our friends and family where we were going, everyone kept saying, “What’s in Tunisia?” I replied, “A beautiful romance with the unknown.” We explored Roman ruins like we had never seen before! The Bardo Museum has some of the most exquisite collections of Roman mosaics that could rival Rome! We walked where Romans, Phonecians, and others roamed when visiting the incredible Kairouan. We wandered the organized streets of the medina in each city with ease. Djerba was our highlight; seeing the medina and outdoor museum enabled us better to understand the culture and the specific region of Djerba. For foodies, we recommend Dar El Jeld for a classic experience, Le Golfe for a modern one, and if you happen to be in Sousse, Dar Antonia’s restaurant in the evening was exceptional.
