Natural Terracotta Jar with Lid
In the Sejnane region of Tunisia, terracotta has long been shaped by hand. This jar with lid carries that tradition forward in a sculptural form.
Its softly rounded proportions (6" W × 6" H), three rows of dots, and warm clay tone highlight the quality of the material, while subtle variations in the surface reflect the gesture of the maker.
Both sculptural and functional, it can be used to hold small objects or displayed as a standalone piece on a shelf of console. The fitted lid completes the form, giving it a sense of balance.
Each piece is unique, with slight variations in tone and texture that speak to its handmade origin.

Sejnania was founded in 2012 in the wake of the Tunisian Revolution as an economic interest group for women potters in the Sejnane region of Tunisia. Zeineb Farhat, Project Manager of Sejnania, has developed skills training, marketing, product promotion, and advocacy, building the group from 35 to 100 participating women, ensuring a steady income for their families, and preserving Tunisia’s heritage. The craft of Sejnane pottery has been passed down from each generation of women for over 3,000 years.
