Handwoven Halfa Fruit Basket
Craftswomen from Artisans Solidaires Kasserine weave this fruit basket entirely by hand from halfa, a hardy grass native to the region. Working from their homes in Kasserine, in western Tunisia, the women draw on weaving techniques passed down through generations to create contemporary objects from this traditional material.
With its low, rounded form and purple woven edge, the Halfa Fruit Basket brings natural texture and a subtle touch of color to the kitchen or table. Each basket is individually woven by hand, with slight variations in shape, texture, and color that reflect the natural material and handmade process.

Based in the Kasserine region of Tunisia along the Algerian border, this collective of mostly women artisans uses natural materials and ancestral techniques to create baskets, rugs and pottery imbued with local terroir. Their pieces are inspired by the patterns and shapes of the traditional Tunisian home updated for modern aesthetics.
