TINJA
Sejnane Terracotta Horse Sculpture
Handcrafted by women potters in the Sejnane region of northern Tunisia, this terracotta horse reinterprets one of the most enduring forms of Tunisia's ceramic heritage. The Sejnane pottery tradition was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2018, recognizing generations of women who have preserved these techniques through hand-building, burnishing, and painting.
Created in collaboration with the designer Tinja, each horse is individually shaped and painted by hand. Its simplified silhouette and expressive markings bridge vernacular craft and contemporary design.
Measuring nearly 11 inches wide and 10 inches high, the Sejnane Horse can be displayed on a console, bookshelf, or pedestal. It stands as both a work of craftsmanship and a celebration of Tunisia's living cultural heritage.
