Judith was first introduced to Tunisian cuisine in 1964, when she was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tunisia and where she met her future husband, Stanley Hallet. Fifty years later, she and her husband went back to Tunis for a month-long stay at the invitation of the president and founder of l’Université Tunis Carthage, Khaldoun Ben Taarit. Hasna was their cook at the small boutique hotel, Dar Marsa Cube, in La Marsa, and together, the three developed this cookbook, sharing the recipes, history and people behind the cuisine.
