ANISSA AIDA
Cartha-jinu denim shirt
Anissa Meddeb, the designer behind Anissa Aida, reinterprets a traditional Tunisian wedding garment, the “dohla,” for this denim shirt with cap sleeves, peplum, stitching and back-zip. The “dohla” is traditionally decorated in embroidered silver and gold thread, worn the first day of wedding activities when the bride is surrounded by the women in her family. This singular piece by Anissa Aida is meant to be worn loose, whether layered over another garment or on its own. Meet the designer >

Raised in Paris and Tunisia, designer Anissa Meddeb creates clothing and accessories inspired by Tunisia’s heritage. She explores traditional garments worn in North Africa and the Levant, and looks further to sartorial traditions of China, Japan and Korea. Launching her debut collection in 2016, Meddeb’s looks invoke classic Arab silhouettes with an architectural edge. In 2018, Anissa was selected for the Design Entrepreneur Program at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and won the Open My Med Prize of Maison Mode Méditerranée in Marseille, France.
