Tunisia’s quality in textile production has made it a center for manufacturing jeans. Anissa Aida uses the best stretch denim for these cropped, wide-leg denim pants made in two shades. Pair them with a blouse or a basic tee for a look that’s casual but considered. The country recently worked with UNIDO (UN Industrial Development Organization) on employing sustainable environmental and social practices. Meet the designer >
Raised in Paris and Tunisia, designer Anissa Meddeb creates clothing and accessories inspired by Tunisia’s heritage. She explores traditional garments worn in North Africa and the Levant, and looks further east to sartorial traditions of China, Japan and Korea. The Parsons School of Design graduate interned for Marc Jacobs Accessories and avant-garde fashion collective ThreeAsFour before launching her own label in 2016. Designed in New York and produced in Tunisia, Meddeb’s looks invoke classic Arab silhouettes with an architectural edge. Dubbed “one to watch” by Fashion Scout London, she has shown at fashion weeks in Paris, London and Berlin, and was recently selected as a FIT Design Entrepreneur at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
